The Parish Meeting this year is on Wednesday the 7th May in Bredgar Village Hall. The hall will open at 6:30pm to exhibit Highsted Park information, with Councillors and representatives from Five Parishes Group available to discuss them. Then the Parish Meeting proper will commence at 7:00pm.

Every parish in England must have a parish meeting under the law which is the Local Government Act 1972, s9(1). The annual parish meeting is open for everyone on the electoral roll of the parish to attend. All have the right to speak and vote at this meeting. The meeting must be held between 1st March and 1st June. Parishioners can raise any issue at the meeting and be directly involved in how their parish is run. Parish Councillors attend as parishioners in the same way as everyone else.

The Inquiry into Highsted Park is still ongoing with Bredgar represented by Five Parishes Group. This is another opportunity to discuss the potential impacts to Bredgar and to hear your views. New information is coming forward all the time and being published on the Inquiry and Swale planning portals. For example, in March the applicant finally submitted traffic modelling reports for the impact on the rural lanes south of the M2 and a copy of these will be available to view. Their modelling forecasts significant increases in traffic on our rural roads and suggests it should be monitored after implementation to see if any mitigating intervention is required then.

Please come along, raise your concerns and participate in your parish meeting.
